LEED for Cities & Communities promotes the creation of equitable and sustainable spaces by combining strategies that comprehensively address the social, economic and environmental problems faced by cities and communities around the world. In this article, we will detail what was discussed in our webinar on Tuesday 6th of this month with our CEO and LEED AP expert, Ana Lucía Granda.
Impact of LEED for Cities and Communities
It has global applicability, but at the same time it is relevant at the local level. It offers a flexible, reliable and globally consistent way to communicate continuous improvements that can be applied to neighborhoods, districts, mega-urban projects, and even at the city or jurisdiction level. In addition, it is aligned with the United Nations sustainable development goals.

4 steps to LEED certification for cities and communities
Register: Start the process by registering your project in the LEED certification system for Cities and Communities. Provide the necessary information and ensure that you meet the initial requirements.
Pre-certify: Once registered, a comprehensive evaluation of your project will take place. This involves collecting data and metrics related to social, economic and environmental aspects. The evaluation will determine the level of performance of your project and the points you can earn.
Certify: Based on the evaluation results, identify areas where you can improve and develop strategies to implement positive changes in your project. This can include actions such as improving energy efficiency, promoting social equity and using sustainable materials. Once you've made the necessary improvements, apply for LEED certification for Cities and Communities. If you meet the requirements and earn the necessary points, you can become certified.
Constant improvements: It's important to keep an ongoing track of your project's performance to ensure that it remains in compliance with LEED standards.
