Social and Business Responsibility (CSR)

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a business strategy that seeks to contribute to the sustainable development of society through the voluntary commitment of companies to social, environmental and economic issues. In addition, companies that adopt CSR practices can contribute to job creation, the sustainable development of the local economy, the reduction of the environmental footprint and the strengthening of the community.

What is their impact on the community, the environment and the economy?

The importance of Corporate Social Responsibility is that it allows us to generate sustainable businesses, which is why more and more companies are opting for CSR because it transmits greater transparency in business activities, which increases the confidence of shareholders and/or future investors.

Its impact on the community, environment and economy will depend on each company's strategies. Here we will leave an example of actions:

  • Internal campaigns that seek to raise awareness, among customers, associates and collaborators, about tolerance, non-discrimination and environmental care.
  • External campaigns with business partners on the consequences of employment discrimination based on age.
  • Annual measurements of CO2 savings by personnel with cars.
  • The issuance of Certification in the Employment Equality and Non-Discrimination Standard generated by the National Institute for Women (Inwomen), the National Council for Preventing Discrimination (Conapred) and the Secretariat of Labor and Social Security (STPS).

What is a socially responsible company?

For a company to apply this concept, it must understand its internal and external impacts in order to integrate CSR into the vision of its business and promote it within its teams. There are CSR parameters to be evaluated in order for the company to effectively exercise its role from a systemic and broad perspective. These indicators evaluate the following areas:

  • Code of Ethics
  • Social Balance
  • Working Conditions
  • Employee Development and Engagement
  • Social Inclusion
  • Investment of Economic, Human and Material Resources
  • Promoting Social Responsibility
  • Relationships with Third Parties
  • Product and/or Service Management
  • Environment

This will make it possible to establish objectives and goals, measure results and constantly monitor, define interest groups and activities, and communicate actions.
